Stock Exchange

The stock exchange plays an important role in acquiring access to equity finance and complement bank finance.
The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) began trading in 1998 and deals in both equities and bonds. The DSE recently introduced an electronic trading system. The stock exchange will continue to benefit from the increasing privatisation of organisations in Tanzania.

NMB follows the developments on the DSE closely, and works with companies in arranging or collecting roles in their IPOs and in distributing dividend payments. Due to its large network, NMB is able to provide added value to listed companies.

The Government of Tanzania intends to sell 21% of its shareholding in NMB in 2007. These shares will be listed at the DSE.
