CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Mark Wiessing is the Chief Executive Officer of the National Microfinance Bank PLC (NMB). As CEO, Mr. Wiessing is responsible for ensuring that the Bank attains its stated commercial, operational, risk and financial goals. As the head of the Bank's management team, he collaborates with and reports to the bank's Board of Directors.
Mr. Wiessing has 24 years management experience in commercial banking, of which over 10 years has been at executive management level principally in emerging markets (in Latin America, Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa) with specific experience in corporate and wholesale banking, retail banking and general banking operations management. He is responsible for managing the strategic direction and the day to day operations management of the bank. Mr. Wiessing holds a Bachelors Arts Degree in Business Administration (BBA) and a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA).
|CHARLES KAZUKA (Jr)
CHIEF HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER
Mr. Charles Kazuka is the Chief Human Resources Officer of National Microfinance Bank PLC (NMB). Responsible for the delivery of the HR strategic framework for the bank. Its mandate is to facilitate alignment of NMB’s organization, people and culture to its strategic business plan, through the provision of services in all aspects of human resources management.
Mr. Kazuka has completed his dissertation for an MBA (Strategic Human Resources Management) from the University of Leicester in the UK. He has extensive Human Resources experience having spent12 years in Senior HR Management roles in Tanzania and West Africa.
Mr. Kazuka worked with Barclays Bank Tanzania as Head of Human Resources and also worked in Barclays Ghana as the Human Resources Manager-Operations.Before joining NMB, he worked with BP as Head of Human Resources for Tanzania before expanding this scope to cover East Africa (Malawi, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia).
Mr. Kazuka is a Board Member of the Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE) and also a member of the executive committee.With this vast experience in HR both in Tanzania and abroad, Mr. Kazuka brings invaluable Strategic HR expertise to NMB that will ensure that the organisational goals are met with the People Agenda being the bedrock to the bank's continued success.
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Waziri Barnabas has been appointed by NMB Board of Directors to assume the role of Chief Financial Officer since 1st November, 2009. Waziri Barnabas joined NMB PLC as Senior Manager Finance and Control on 25th August, 2008 from Barclays Bank Tanzania Ltd where he was the Financial Controller for over 3 years. Before Barclays Bank he had worked for Standard Chartered Bank (T) Ltd from 2001 to March 2005 as Head of Business Support in Finance Department. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (BCOM Accounting) from the University of Dar es Salaam and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA T).
Waziri Barnabas has over 15 years’ experience in banking and has worked in various positions including Financial and Management Accounting, Treasury, Taxation and has been a member of Senior Management Teams. .
Waziri Barnabas is responsible for Finance and Control, Budgeting, Taxation, MIS and Planning.
CHIEF INFORMATION AND OPERATIONS OFFICER
Pete Novat is the Chief Information and Operations Officer (CIOO) of National Microfinance Bank PLC (NMB). He joined NMB on 1st February, 2013. He is responsible for the Technology and Telecommunications of the bank as well as back-office banking operations and payments processing. He is also responsible for the larger Projects management (PMO), Change, business interface and Innovation departments of the bank.
Before joining NMB, Mr Novat was the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of National Bank of Commerce (NBC) where he worked for 9 years. He has over 11 years’ experience in corporate leadership, programme management, Larger Project management and banking of which 7 years has been at executive management level.
Before joining NBC, Mr Novat worked for Kinder Morgan and Sprint PCS in the USA where he was responsible for the delivery of larger projects and systems change at Kinder Morgan plants and Sprint PCS corporate offices of New Jersey, Texas City, New Orleans, Las Vegas and Houston respectively.
CHIEF RETAIL BANKING OFFICER
Arjan Molenkamp is the Chief Retail Banking Officer of National Microfinance Bank PLC (NMB). He joined NMB on 1st February, 2010. He is responsible for the entire branch network of over 145 branches. He is also responsible for Personal Banking, Marketing and Communication, Performance/Channels Management, Alternative Channels,SME/MSE,Business Excellence/Branch Organization and also the Branch Operations and Control Departments of the bank.
Before joining NMB, Mr. Molenkamp was the Director of Retail Banking of Zanaco Bank in Zambia. He has over 20 years experience in corporate and retail banking. After working for Credit Lyonnais Bank and Fortis Bank, he joined NMB-partner Rabobank from the Netherlands in 1999.
From 1999 to 2006, Mr. Molenkamp held several positions with Rabo bank before moving to Zanaco. In his last position in the Netherlands, he was responsible for countrywide change programs aimed at improving profitability as well as customer satisfaction for SME and retail customers in Rabo bank.
CHIEF RISK OFFICER
Tom Borghols is the Chief Risk Officer of National Microfinance Bank PLC. He joined NMB in March; 2013. Tom holds a degree in International Law. He is responsible of Credits; Special Assets; Operational, Market, IT and Fraud Risk and Compliance. Also he heads the recently established Loan Centre where the centralised processing of loans takes place.
Tom has an extensive background in banking, having worked with ABN AMRO Bank, Fortis Bank and with Rabobank. Over the course of 30 years’ experience, he has held positions in the commercial and in the risk area, both in corporate and in retail banking. Working his way up from Relationship Manager to Branch Manager and Country Manager, Tom started his career in his native Netherlands and moved to Curacao in the Caribbean, and then to Kenya, Rwanda and Zambia. He worked with the Bank Populaire du Rwanda, thereafter was appointed to Director Risk at Zambia National Commercial Bank (ZANACO) and subsequently joined NMB in March 2013.
Aziz Chacha joined NMB as the bank's Treasurer in September 2011 from Barclays Bank Tanzania where he had worked as the Country Treasurer. Aziz is also an alumni of Inorero University in Nairobi (formerly Kenya School of Professional Studies) and is currently pursuing MBA studies at the Manchester Business School of the University of Manchester (UK).
Aziz is also the out-going Vice-President of the Tanzania's chapter of ACI- Financial Markets Association. He has a wealth of experience in treasury management and a certified member of ACI-Financial markets head quartered in France.
