NMB host Lunch for Taifa Stars

As sponsor of the National Team, NMB hosted a luncheon to bid farewell to the National Team players famously known as Taifa Stars before their departure to Cameroon for the return match against the Indomitable Lions on Saturday June 21st, 2008.
The event took place at the Movenpick Hotel on June 19, 2008. During the event, NMB granted Taifa Stars, TZS. 6.2m/- in recognition of their impressive performance when played with Cameroon last week in the ongoing Nations Cup Qualifier. To encourage savings culture, the amount will be equally deposited into each players and team officials account maintained by NMB.
Speaking at this occasion NMB’s Chief Commercial Officer Bas Nierop praised the Taifa Stars for the good performance in their last match, “NMB is very happy with Taifa Stars’ progress since we started sponsoring the National Team almost 2 years ago. The progress was clearly manifested last Saturday when played against Cameroon. We are confident that you will again fight for a good result in Cameroon. All Tanzanians will be behind you. NMB wishes you a very successful match and we know that you will do your utmost to achieve a good result”.
TFF Secretary General, Fredrick Mwakalebela and the coach of the National Team Marcio Maximo thanked NMB for sponsoring Taifa Stars and encouraged the team to play well in the remaining matches.
Representing the Minister for Sports, Col. Iddi Kipingu thanked NMB for sponsoring sports development in Tanzania. At the same event, Col. Kipingu handed over the Tanzania flag to the head of delegation, Samuel Nyala.
